Famous German People

Some eminent Germans are still remembered for their contributions in spheres like music, politics, philosophy or science like Brahms, Beethoven, Albert Einstein, Boris Becker, Rudolf Diesel and the ever famous Adolf Hitler. Some such achievers from Germany are discussed below:

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749 to 1832): He was a great poet whose work was related to literature, drama, theology, humanism and science. 'Faust' got him accolades as being an alchemical dramatic poem. His idea of light and color influenced the work of artists like Kandinsky and Mondrian. Darwin is said to have been influenced by his discoveries in plant and animal lives.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 to 1827): A renowned pianist and composer, he was a great influence in the transition from classical to romantic musical compositions.

Arthur Schopenhauer (1788 to 1860): He was a philosopher who had great impact on the literary, philosophy and minds of people in that era. His work 'The World as Will and idea' professed the thought that it is the will that we always try to satisfy which is the true reflection of reality and not god. He was influenced by teachings in Buddhism and Upanishads as also by works of Kant and Plato.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche ((1844 to 1900): A noted philosopher, he stressed on philosophy based on reality than abstracts. He relied on subjectivity, choice, freedom of the individual and existence. His first work, 'The Birth of Tragedy 'highlighted the difference between rational and passionate aspects of human nature. He also wrote on issues like the influence of afterlife thoughts curtailing one's ability and power to utilize passion in to creativity.
