Where Do You Get News From?

All of our sources of news are good. Many people get their daily news from newspaper, radio and television. The news is usually the same, but in my opinion, we get the best information from the television. In many cases, we see the images related to the subject as the speaker gets into development.

Carrying a newspaper in on a daily basis around is not something that many of us would like to do, but we are willing to read it while waiting at the bus and subway stations, airport or just to kill time while the mechanic is working on the car. It gives complete information and more feelings occur as you go through the reading process. You find yourself understand why things have happened instead of how they happened.

Many people listen to radio when they are riding in car. Young people are most likely into music than news. I do sometimes listen to talk shows where people call in to contribute by giving their opinions and ideas about issues going on.

The television gives more live information than any other sources. The speaker always tries the best to get viewers attention by combining speech and images related to the pieces of information.

The lack of time affects the way each of us chooses the way of getting the latest news around the world. Beside the three sources above, some people get news from Internet or by the traditional way: mouth to mouth.

Many prefer television and radio to the newspaper because it is the fastest way to stay connected to what is going on around the world.

Track And Field News

As a track and field athlete, there is news that you will want to keep up to date on. Aside from the results of each event, having a good reference allows you to get athlete profiles. For an athlete, being able to retrieve profiles of your opponents, gives you a better idea on their abilities as competitors.

If you are an athlete, results are not your primary concern. Resources for new equipments that will help you enhance your performance should interest you. The more popular equipment for most athletes is shoes. With the influence of technology in the shoe industry, there are many shoes that are manufactured to help enhance your performance. Spikes have been added to running shoes to increase traction. There are those where the spikes can be removed, so you can still wear the shoes outside of the competition. There are shoes that provide a bounce back cushioning for better propulsion ,specifically manufactured for the hurdle events. Shoes that provide increased shock attenuation to enhance jump performance are important if you are involved in pole vaulting, long jumping or triple jump events. Something that gives you a centrifugal flex groove to increase your flexibility without interfering with your spin is best for your throwing. Aside from the new models of shoes available, you'll want to know which ones give the best performance while providing the most comfort.

Performance enhancements are not limited to shoes. News regarding new technology and equipment is also very important. Motion Capture is something that has recently been incorporated into sports including track and field. With the use of this technology your form and movements can be monitored, and experts can advice on how you can modify your performance during competitions.

'I'm Getting a Divorce' - Sharing the News that You're Getting a Divorce

Sharing personal news with friends, family, co-workers and others can be stressful and emotional. This often holds true when sharing the news that you are getting divorced. For some people divorce is embarrassing. Others feel divorce is an admission of failure. For some the divorce decision leads them to become fearful of rejection by family or friends.

To alleviate the difficulty, many people develop an informal or formal plan of how and with whom to discuss their divorce. Be cautious as to what information you share. Once information is out it can not be retracted.

Broaching the Subject with Your Inner Circle; friends and family

Deciding the best way to begin discussing your impending divorce with your close friends and family is a very personal decision. Take the time to determine how you will do so. Also take time to determine who should be told and when they should be told. Here are some tips for broaching the subject:

1. Tell the people with whom you are most comfortable first.

2. Share the news when you are ready.

3. Plan ahead what information you will share.

4. Don't feel obligated to share information you do not wish to share.

5. Prepare for both positive and negative reactions and be ready to deal with them.

Who Else Should Be Told About Your Divorce?

There may be additional people who should be told about your impending divorce.

School faculty, staff and administrators: If your children are not yet in high school, it may be advisable to let those who work directly with your children know about your impending divorce. That does not mean you have to tell everyone from the school bus driver to the assistant coach. Limit the dissemination of information to those administrators, faculty and staff members who are directly involved with your child. Do not attempt to get teachers and other school personnel to become your allies. This not only places them in an awkward position, but it has no place in your personal divorce. It is unnecessary and inappropriate to discuss non child related issues with school officials.

If your children are upper middle school or high school age, telling teachers and coaches of the changing home situation is far less important. Generally, telling school personnel can be limited to an as-needed basis.

Employers: Many divorcing people wonder if they should tell their employer about the divorce. Two pivotal areas to consider when deciding whether to inform your employer are 1) your relationship with your employer and 2) your rationale for discussing the information.

If you are unsure how to handle this conversation, perhaps discussing your workplace environment with a trusted co-worker will prove helpful. Should you decide to share the information, discuss it from the employers' standpoint. This might include discussing how your divorce process will or will not affect your employment: time-off or a need for flexibility of hours. Do not imply that your performance or productivity will be affected by the divorce. Regardless of how much you believe your employer values you, they are still in business and must put business needs first. Also consider if it will affect your career if your co-workers believe you are distracted and perhaps off your game. At some point you may need to have a discussion with human resources regarding benefits and other changes. When deciding whether or not to discuss the information with co-workers, be cautious. It may be wise to limit the discussion to co-workers with whom you share a personal relationship and those who as a function of employment need to know.

Sharing personal news is can be uncomfortable. Only share information that you choose to once information is disseminated it can not be retracted. Don't over-share.

Business Writing - How to Deliver Bad News

Nobody wants to be the bearer of bad news. Not only is it a generally somber task, the fact that readers aren't likely to be very receptive to it just adds to the difficulty.

However, communicating bad news is part of everyday business. If you don't, then you can't refuse requests you can't handle, turn down offers you can't accept or inform clients when there are problems going on.

Some techniques can help soften the blow of bad news, though, and employing them in your writing should help ease the negativity just a little bit.

Start with something positive. Tell the good news first or pay the recipient a compliment, before delivering your actual message. Keep it brief, though, lest raise their hopes up unnecessarily.

Close positively. After starting positive and delivering the bad news, close the communication in a positive tone. This cushions the negative message in between two positives, effectively lessening its impact.

Be empathetic. Empathize with the recipient, understanding their position and keeping it in mind when you're writing. There's nothing you can do about bad news, but you can show some sympathy to ease the negative effects.

Provide reasons. Never deliver a bad message without an accompanying reason. People want to know why and, in these cases, they usually deserve to.

When delivering a negative message, you want it to come across clearly, all while managing to keep as positive a mood as possible. To ensure clarity, use an English grammar checker - skipping it might leave them thinking you meant something else.

Build a Community Driven Local Online News Website

With the introduction of the blog, creation of a community driven, local, online, news website is made so much easier than it was using a conventional website.

Blog Platform

Install WordPress in your new domain or a subdomain of your existing domain. A new domain for your community driven, local, online, news website is preferable for indexing, ranking and ease of search purposes.

Choose and install a WordPress theme, suitable for your community driven, local, online, news website, from the thousands freely available on the internet.

Design your header and customize the appearance of your community driven, local, online, news website.

At the most basic level, your new community driven, local, online, news website is now ready to roll.

Getting Indexed

Of course, there's much search engine optimization (SEO) work that can be done to improve your indexing and ranking. At the very least, you'll need to get a link from a page somewhere on the net that gets regularly spidered, so that the search engines can find your new community driven, local, online, news website.

A link from your own home page will do the trick.

Alternatively you can join one or several of the blogging, social networks and submit your online, news website. Submitting your community driven, local, online, news website URL to several directories would also be helpful. These submissions of your community driven, news website will not only get you indexed but the backlinks will increase your SEO score and thus help with your ranking in the search engine results pages (SERPs).

So, with this much development work done, your local, online, news website is ready to be spidered, indexed and ranked in the the SEs when you you begin publishing community driven, news items from your local area.

Getting Started

WordPress comes with one post titled Hello World and one comment on this post. Delete both of these and start afresh.

News Sources

Apart from writing your own news stories, there are two main sources of community news:

* Press releases.
* Community group submissions.

Press Releases

In Australia there are three levels of government: local, state and federal. Each will issue frequent press releases. State and federal government press releases will come, not only from the respective government websites, but also from the different party's websites and the particular politician's websites.

Pay attention to the press releases of your local member, both state and federal, whether in the government, opposition, a minor party or an independent. Also regularly check out the press releases of government ministers with responsibility for portfolios of interest to your readers or fitting in with your editorial slant.

There will probably be various business and industrial concerns in your local area as well as special interest groups such as environmental lobby groups, that issue press releases.

Community Group Submissions

Obtaining community group submissions for your local, online, news website is much more work. But these will have the most interest for your readers and the contact established with local people will build your readership. And, of course, community group news submissions are at the heart of your stated objective of providing a community driven, on line news service.

Locate a directory of local sport and community groups. E-mail the groups if e-mail addresses are provided. They probably won't be.

Write to them by snail mail if need be. Your e-mail address for news submissions will be in front of them, cutting down the chances of errors.

Speak personally to community group secretaries, giving them a business card or flyer with your e-mail address.

Phoning community groups is the least valuable option because of the difficulties for them in finding your community driven, local, online, news website on the net or getting your e-mail address right.

Edition Frequency

Decide whether you'll publish at set time intervals, say once or twice a week, or if you'll publish news stories as they come to hand. One advantage of an online news service over a print newspaper is the ability to update the current news as it comes to hand. The older news stories will slip off the bottom of the home page, and the news at the top of your community driven, local, online, news website will always be the latest available.

Publishing your Opening Edition

At first it may be necessary to publish only press releases, in order to build up some level of credibility as an online news source. When your community driven, local, online, news website has sufficient content to be seen by the community as viable, it's time to start your community group submission campaign.

It will be disappointing at first to be publishing an online news service that nobody reads. So get some posters up around town and don't procrastinate too long before you get going with your community group submission campaign.

In the News - Sears Remodels US Army Veteran's Home

In Rome, New York, 50 volunteers turned up to remodel Robert and Cathy Ross's home. Bob Ross, a US Army veteran was chosen to have a remodel courtesy of Sears. Bob has served 22 years in the army. And now, he has two sons who also decided to follow his army footsteps. "One of my sons served 13 years and the other did seven," Ross adds. One of his sons was recently awarded a Bronze Star for his bravery in Iraq.

In 1988, Sears started the Sears Heroes at Home Program to help fix veteran's homes. After remodeling 100,000 homes, it is now Bob Ross's turn. The 50 volunteers came to help the organizers from Rebuilding Together Mohawk Valley who helped secure the funding for the one day remodel. The happy couple was both very excited especially that their bathtub was replaced with a walk-in shower. "When you're on oxygen, you get really, really tired and they're putting in instead of a bathtub, it's a shower and when you have to look about stepping over a bathtub, most people don't realize how heard that is when you can't breathe," says Cathy Ross.

Now if you are using your VA loan to remodel or update your home, here's a couple of useful tips before you buy, build or fix anything.

1. Get a warranty. One of the most crucial parts of constructing a home is the warranty. A ten-year warranty is required if (1) the home is proposed or under-construction or (2) the local authority did not conduct construction inspections. If this isn't your case, then your builder must provide you a completed VA Form 26-1859 (Warranty of Completion of Construction). This form should say that your builder is giving you a one-year VA builder's warranty. At the same time, the purchaser must also acknowledge that he/she is aware that the VA did not perform any inspections of the property during the construction by submitting a written statement.

2. Make sure that your builder has a valid VA Builder ID. The builder must provide a valid VA Builder Identification Number for properties appraised as "new construction" or "under construction" before a VA notice of value is issued. The VA Builder ID is a requirement based on the Construction and Valuation Section (C&V) of the VA Loan Guaranty Program.

3. To be eligible for appraisal as real estate, a manufactured home needs to be installed on a permanent foundation in compliance to VA requirements.

Tips For Writing News Pieces

The intro of a news story should not be more than 25 words. It should be powerful enough to get the eyes of the reader. It is very important that the intro should gain the reader's attention so that the reader will want to read the news story. The intro should be in a problem/ solution combination. It should contain a brief highlighted problem with a brief solution in the news story. For example, thousands of asthma patients can have a relief after the new drug has been approved by the NHS.

The second and third paragraphs of the news story must contain a lot of key facts such as What, When, How, Why, Who, etc.

The fourth and fifth paragraphs should contain a quote from the major part of the story. These paragraphs should contain an opinion or a comment. It should not contain any factual quote from the main source of the story. For example, Mr. John said; "This is outrageous. They are ruining this highway. They should clean it up right away."

Then comes the secondary quotes, it should be quoted in long news pieces. This will give a balance to the story. For an example, if you making a news story about a new asthma drug that has been launched in the market, you should include the voices from a variety of sources which can include, scientists, patients, GP's, drug companies, etc. The quotes from these sources can be directly or indirectly. Direct quotes can be for example Mr. John said:".....................". Indirect quotes are for example -Mr. John said the drug is very effective against asthma and has been tested to give fruitful results. Indirect quotes are the lines which the reporter paraphrases the lines of the source as if they have told them.

The Evolution of News Reporting Over the Centuries

Five hundred years ago, there were no breaking news broadcasts relayed directly to people's homes. They relied on word of mouth during that time, and they seldom cared about issues not pertaining to their small settlement. Monarchs and other important men owning fiefdoms maintained their own network of messengers to exchange information between their various outposts.

Other news regarding the interaction of foreign lands was bringing mainly by merchants and travelers. It wasn't until 1456 that Herr Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press and paved the way for the advent of newspapers. However, it took another 150 years for the world's first newspaper to appear. Mercurius Gallobelgicus was published in, what is today called, Germany, in the Latin language. It became quite popular in no time, and its readership spread as far as England. The first newspaper that was regularly published appeared in 1665 as the Oxford Gazette. It was later renamed the London Gazette and is still published. However, being published only twice every week, it was not the first daily. It took another 100 years before the Daily Courant appeared on the scene. It is interesting to note that the first editor of the Daily Courant was a woman, the first woman editor in the world history.

The newspapers became more popular after the invention of wired communication. This enabled newsrooms to report fresh developments from around the world, especially from the battlefronts. Newspapers also become a means of spreading an organization's ideology as nearly all of the political, rebellious and revolutionary groups maintained their mouthpiece weekly or monthly publications. From Napoleon to Nazis, everybody exploited the newspapers for their propaganda, as it gave them a wider reach to the masses.

Broadcasting was born in 1901 with the advent of wireless communication. Radio channels are still quite popular at many places. Once they were the only source of international news. Today, however, they fulfill a completely different role of reporting local events. In many cities, big and small, people rely on radio for many important things, such as live traffic information and other news.

News channels became a norm in every home as television increased in popularity. Today, online news, both textual and multimedia, is the buzzword. Many dedicated news channels started providing specialized news about niches, such as finance and sports.

The Internet brought yet another revolution in this field. You can access the newspapers online and watch the telecasts of all major news channels. Today, anybody can report video or other news independently using self-publishing portals, such as video sharing websites and blogs. The Internet is widely regarded as the future of news reporting. It already accounts for a significant share of news market.

A number of researches conducted by various independent agencies indicate that the newspaper readership is falling rapidly. At the same time, they also suggest a dramatic increase in the readership of online versions of these newspapers. Nearly all of the major newspapers also maintain an online edition.

News Search Is Influencing Internet Marketing

The search landscape is changing so fast that half of what we knew a year ago about search engine optimization and marketing is now obsolete, reports Greg Jarboe in his SEO-PR Newsblog. Jarboe is a regular presenter at the Search Engine Strategies (SES) conference and web search versus vertical search (in search areas like news) was one of the new search trends featured at the San Jose SES.

The growth of the news search has only come about in the last few years. According to Nielsen/Net ratings, in June 2004 CNN.com was still the #1 online news source with Yahoo not too far behind. By January 2005 Yahoo rose to #1 with 23 million readers a month and by June 2005 they were pulling out in front with 29 million readers a month, dominating the online news ratings.

News search is playing a bigger and bigger role in online marketing. Google has a news search section, as does AOL, MSN and Alta Vista. Sites like Topix are drawing viewers looking for great local news. Recent studies show that 77 percent of Internet users get their news online and it's the number one choice for news in the 18 - 54 year old age group. People go online and search the news engines by topic and keyword. The LA Times reported on the trend, saying that veteran journalists are looking to the PR field for work, now that so many readers are reading their news online.

When there is a relevant and timely article in Google News, Google will serve you up that news item in the Google 'One-Box' above the #1 position when you do a web search on a keyword or phrase. Yahoo News now indexes blog posts in response to the clear trend that early adopters look to blogs for news. Getting your message out in the news search has emerged as an essential part of your search engine optimization and marketing strategy.

Optimizing press releases and news articles is no longer a 'nice-to-do one day' idea or 'something we should try.' It's a proven strategy you should be implementing right now. Put these articles into an RSS feed and you'll start to show up in the most unexpected places!

Why It's Important to Keep Up With the News

Many people neglect the news and are unaware of what is going on in the world around them. This is a large mistake however and a good understanding of current affairs is actually crucial for many reasons. Here we'll look at just why it's so important to follow the news and why you should look for a news blog, website or news channel to provide you with regular updates.

Firstly the news can sometimes affect you. You might not think that news is constantly about crises in other countries, or things that have happened to other people, but more likely the news reflects a policy or government decision that will be utilising your tax money and that will affect your economy. The government is designed to work for us and this is the true idea of a democracy, however it's the press and the blogs and news channels that allow us to actually see what the government are doing and that allow for democracy to work. People fought and died for freedom of speech and the freedom of the press that comes with it, and so to turn your back on it is a serious mistake. When it comes to an election, the news through the last few years should be the main thing influencing your decision.

At the same time the news can often affect you directly. For example the recent news of the ash cloud covering the sky meant that many flights had to be cancelled or couldn't go ahead. However only those who read a news blog or watched a news channel would have known not to go ahead and book any last minute flights. Even on a more basic level, the news often includes the weather, and this will affect whether we get wet when we head outside or remember to bring an umbrella.

The news is also very important for conversation. If something big has happened in the news then this is a sure fire way to spark up a conversation with someone where there might otherwise have been an awkward silence. At the same time in a group of people talking about the news you won't want to be the only one who isn't aware of what's going on as this can make you feel very isolated and out of touch. At the same time you might lose respect from the other people who value the news and current affairs more.

Of course the news is also just interesting and while there will be a lot you're not interested in, there will always be something that catches your attention and that is related to one of the fields you find interesting. If you like celebrities and gossip then this always finds its way on to the news, while meanwhile you'll also likely find information about sports and cutting edge science.

If you want to stay up to date with the news but struggle to find the time, new media technologies are now allowing many new methods to get quick and specific news updates meaning there's really no excuse left for not knowing what's going on in the world.

Depression: How To Watch The News

Sometimes, one of the hardest things to do when you suffer from depression is to watch the news. In this time of sensationalism, it can sometimes be hard to watch the news without allowing it to send you deeper into your depression. There are a few things to do so as not to suffer from that.

The first is to buffer the news. Watch something funny before. Since the news usually ends on upbeat notes, that should keep your mood up. Another technique is to do something while you watch the news, so that you don't spend all of your focus on the news. Read a book or do a crossword while watching the news. By focusing on the news only, you are more likely that you will allow it to adjust your mood. By giving it only part of your attention, you can stabilize your mood a bit more. You can also watch the news with someone else. That way, you have someone with whom you can talk about what you are seeing which might help you to release any anxiety that you are feeling.

Sometimes, watching the news on television is more harmful than helpful. The internet allows you to get news whenever you want and that might work better. Yahoo and Google both have comprehensive news sites and companies like the New York Times and CNN also maintain extensive web presences. It would allow you to watch the news a little at a time and get headlines without needing to get too much information.

Infertility Statistics - Good News Or Bad?

Struggling with infertility and the accompanied problems it brings can sometimes make couples feel very alone and without any support. Most will look at other couples that are blessed with children and it might go through their minds about how unfair it all is and why are they the ones that have to go through this.

But unfortunately they are not the only ones and even if it might be unfair their are thousands of other couples that are facing the same problems. There are more than 7.5 million couples that are struggling with infertility or miscarriage in America at the moment.

These couples don't even get any warning that this is lying in store for them until they are trying to start a family. Their infertility problems only crop up in most cases when nothing happens when it is suppose to or when something go wrong when it is not.

The lucky ones are the ones that somehow managed to have conceived and had children of their own and only later learn that they have a medical condition that should have interfered with their fertility. Sadly in most cases, couples are not so lucky.

When looking at other couples with children we are unaware of the infertility struggles they had to wrestle with in some cases. Almost 12% of woman that are looking to fall pregnant, before they are 45, will have to undergo fertility treatments to fulfill their dream of having their own child.

A further five and a halve percent will have to receive some kind of medical procedure to assist with threatening possible miscarriage problems.

Whereby infertility diagnostic tests will amount to a further almost five percent and another almost four percent will receive medication to assist with their ovulation. Just over one percent will receive artificial insemination procedures. Issues in carrying a viable full term pregnancy will account for almost twelve percent.

With the loss of eggs and the decrease of the quality of the eggs due to age most older women can expect some kind of infertility issues. But statistics don't stop here, of women in the thirty five to thirty nine years age group, just over fifteen percent received infertility procedures.

For women in the thirty to thirty four year old age group, seventeen percent will receive infertility treatment. Almost twenty seven and a halve percent of women between forty and forty four years of age are infertile. This drop to twenty two and a halve percent for women between thirty five to thirty nine years of age.

With almost seventeen percent of women in the thirty and thirty four year old age group suffering from infertility. Even though the statistics paint a grim picture for some, for most it will still be possible to become pregnant. The following statistics gives hope.

IVF made it possible for thirty eight percent of thirty one year old women to become pregnant.
Twenty two percent of thirty nine year old women was helped by IVF procedures.
Where only ten percent of women age forty three found help through IVF treatments.

But even then, if donor eggs that was harvested from younger women was used, the IVF success rate for women over forty jump to a high forty five percent.

Surprising News About Incontinence and Senior Sex

Most seniors expect to be incontinent. We prepare for it, become resigned to it, and think that is just the way life is as we get older.

Now, thanks to new research, new treatment protocols and a growing need, that isn't necessarily true, and doesn't need to be true for you.

Recently I had the opportunity to interview Lizanne Pastore, PT, MA, COMT, a physical therapist in San Francisco who now specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction in men and women. When she sees clients in person, she assesses the muscular tone, strength, flexibility and endurance overall, as well as a conducting a thorough pelvic floor assessment. Plus, she closely assesses her patients back, hips, and other regions of their bodies. Pelvic floor dysfunction can involve the whole body, says Ms Pastore.

The impetus for this interview was several questions I've received from readers who had the courage to ask what they could do about incontinence, not just for the inconvenience of the problem, but also how it was affecting their sex life. They wanted to know if incontinence was normal, and to be expected as we get older.

In the interests of transparency, I want to say Lizanne was the physical therapist who facilitated my walking again after a bad fall. So, I know her well, and have been very impressed with her training and commitment to her clients.

When I suggested that many seniors consider some level of incontinence normal, she set me straight.

Lizanne said that while society deems it pretty much normal for incontinence to occur as we get older, this doesn't mean it's normal, or even okay.

And, physical therapists now have the tools to treat incontinence, so it really is a shame that so many people remain incontinent when they really don't need to. She went on to say that although there are many changes in our bodies with aging, with proper care and training, we don't have to remain incontinent.

Especially when you consider the costs. Incontinence, she said, is a 28 billion dollars a year problem. These costs include direct medical costs for urinary tract infections, skin break down when people are incontinent, longer hospital stays, needing to be admitted to a skilled medical facility, as well as the non medical costs of incontinence pads, laundry, and care taking.

She told me there are as many brands of incontinence pads as there are tooth paste.

I had a hard time believing there could be that many. So, I checked our local big drug store. It was amazing how many kinds of supplies and accessories there were. The manager told me that many older people buy their supplies on line just so they can have them delivered, and not have to carry the bulky packages home.

Of course, incontinence is not just a problem for older women and men. Younger women who have just given birth, or who have had a child some years ago will complain to their doctors about being incontinent. Too many doctors tell them that it's normal. To be expected.

From a physical therapists perspective, this is a huge misperception. Incontinence doesn't have to be a "normal part of aging," or even normal after childbirth, said Lizanne.

Of course I had to ask Lizanne what does this mean to older couples who want to maintain an active intimate life even though they struggle with incontinence?

She had several suggestions for what you could do and positions that would be more comfortable when making love.

News Photography - 7 Tips To Make It Happen!

One of the most interesting fields of photography is news photography. News photography is all about bringing to life complete and honest news events. It is necessary to capture news photographs perfectly in order to catch the reader's eye.

It takes a news photographer years to develop the skill and talent required to produce quality photographs. It is not without many failures and errors that news photography can be mastered. Many successful news photographers admit that they have achieved what they have only after many failures.

For those who wish to start a career in the field of news photography, there are a few tips you must keep in mind.

1. Be attentive to natural sounds. Natural sounds are as essential as any picture or image. Interesting images can be made more interesting if it is accompanied by a good sound as these complement each other.

2. You need to master the art of white balancing. You should know which angles go on which surface. Getting the lighting right is one of the most essential factors in taking a good shot.

3. You need to know how to hold the perfect shot. Try your best to hold the shot for longer. You will learn the art of creating intervals between each shot.

4. Be extremely attentive in your interviews and ensure that you know the story. Interact with your reporter so that you get an idea on where he wants to go with the story so that you can capture accordingly.

5. While capturing shots, make sure you use your tripod. It is a common misconception that a video camera can be held steadily. There are some photographers who prefer to move around while taking their shots.

6. As far as possible, use your feet to zoom and not your lens. The best way to get a clear idea of the event is getting as close to the subject as possible. If you zoom in with your camera, the quality of the image might be blurred.

7. Use camera light only where it is needed. You can always choose to angle the light on the subject instead of directly lighting it. If you light up the subject too much, your pictures might turn out too bright and hence flat against the background.

It takes a great deal of mastery and skill to make a good news photographer who takes featured news shots. Try being as creative as possible and shoot different angles so that you have a unique view on every situation you encounter. Lastly, practice makes perfect so you should practice as much as you can before you dive head on into the field.

How to Write a News-Worthy Press Release

If you are running any type of a business, whether in your home town or online, you'll find that it is essential to get good publicity. If you don't advertise, you will have a hard time bringing in more customers.

One of the best ways that you can advertise, even on a small budget, is to use press releases. Of course if you decide to advertise through press releases, you need to make sure that they are news worthy so they actually get published. If you're wondering how to write a news-worthy press release, here are some top tips to help.

Make Sure You Have a Catchy Headline

Probably the most important thing you can do when working to write a news-worthy press release is to make sure that you have a catchy headline. It should actually summarize the entire press release for you. Not only will you be competing with other press releases to get published, but you'll also be working to grab the readers' attention as well.

If people aren't drawn in by the headline, chances are that they won't give the press release a second look. So, make sure the headline catches the attention of the reader and is an accurate portrayal of what is in the press release.

Ensure the Body Supports the Headline

Next you'll want to make sure that your press release body supports your headline. It should work off the headline by providing the who, what, where, why, and when. It should take that headline and go deeper into the topic, providing important news that readers want to know. If your body does not support your headline, you'll have a problem even getting the press release accepted.

Avoid Any Hype

The quickest way to get your press release rejected is to put hype into the release. Press releases that are news worthy are to be written from a journalistic point of view. This means that it should be unbiased and only provide the facts. Too much hype will make it look like a sales letter and editors are not going to publish that kind of a press release.

Always Add Contact Information

Adding your contact information and a brief profile of your company is important as well when writing a news-worthy press release. This is especially important if editors and readers are not familiar with your company. You'll give them some background information that is useful, and of course you want the contact information included so that people can contact you for more information or even visit your website.

After you write the press release, make sure that you go back and look it over carefully. Tighten up the writing, look for errors, and ensure that it is easy to read. Then you'll be ready to submit the press release.

Forex News Trading Tip - How To Trade The FOMC

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decision on interest rates is one of the most powerful
market movers in the forex market and when the markets move traders trading the news have the
opportunity to make money.

The FOMC sets the discount rate or federal funds rate and because interest rates are set higher to induce foreign investment and therefore fight inflation during times of prosperity and lower to increase spending during recessions they are one of the main factors influencing the strength of the dollar.

Economic indicators play a huge role in the forex trading especially for traders who approach the market through fundamental analysis and trade the news. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) interest rate decision is one of the most influential indicators for the US dollar and you can be sure after the news is released there is going to be volatility in the markets and volatility is what traders thrive on.

I have heard many 'traders' say never to trade the news and especially the FOMC. Although the FOMC interest decision is a news event and can fall under the category of through fundamental analysis I am a technician and I believe that charts always price everything in. However I guarantee the market does not know what exactly the Feds comments and decision will be, therefore it is not priced in yet and this will cause the markets to react when they do find out. This is confirmed by the change in price after the decision and the continuation in the days following.

I have been trading the Fed for eight years now and yes I have been burnt in the past and that is exactly how I have come to learn how to trade it properly. The most common pattern to trade the Fed is the whip-saw. But do not be fearful of it, embrace it. Here is how it happens, first there is a large spike one direction (traders come in and follow that direction)followed by a large spike in the opposite direction (those same traders now sell their first position at a loss and reverse their position - this is when I take a position in the direction of the original move)followed by an extended move back in the direction of the original spike (all the emotional trades are left sick to their stomachs) and I am left holding a very nice position setting myself up to capture a larger than average market move.

If this pattern does not play out exactly as outlined I stand on the sidelines and do not trade at all. Because the markets are moving fast in the period following the FOMC interest rate decision I am watching a very short time frame, mainly the one and five minute charts.

News Profiteer System Review - Can You Trade The News For Profit?

Welcome to my review of the News Profiteer system. This system has helped my trading a lot. Once you know a bit about the news you gain an advantage, as many of the heavy weight traders with very large positions use the news.

After much searching on the internet for reviews and testimonials of this system, I was hoping to find at least a few bad words about it. If you look at other forex trading systems on the internet, like some forex robots for example, you invariably get at least a few people talking it down. I found 1 bad comment about it, and this looked pretty clichéd. It said "don't bother - doesn't work, don't believe everything you hear". Not really much detail of evidence to go on. And all other reviews had been positive. So I took the plunge and coughed up the $197 to get the system.

What You Actually Get

In this day and age of confusing "long" sales letters that often leave people (well me sometimes anyway) frustrated because they don't get to the point, only go on about some sort of dream, I thought for the readers benefit I would list exactly what you get with the system, including anything else that is sold to you after you have signed up. You get:

A 113 page eBook in PDF format
A free month of weekly outlook newsletters
A daily email for what to expect in the forex markets, which news reports to trade and why

So Is It Worth It?

With any forex system, a lot depends on the user. That's not a cop out - it's a fact. Talk to anyone who sends out regular tips or trades, and they will tell you that for exactly same signal, stop loss and target, people will get many different outcomes. A few people will hit the target, some will bail out before, others will have got out at break-even, and others will somehow have taken a loss, possibly by moving their stops too early.

BUT - this system is really easy to implement and simple. I believe this is an important point. In my experience it's the simple systems that are the best. If you properly follow this system, I believe you would have an 80% winning system. That's all you need to become a millionaire - a system that wins 80% of the time. You don't actually need that - just a system that is profitable and that you can scale up.

The BIG point that attracted me to this system is that it gives you an advantage. There are various statistics thrown around the internet on how many people fail at trading. Some say 95%, some say 90%. I don't know where these figures come from, but having taken a few years and a lot of struggle to become profitable, I can well believe it is a high figure. If you want to trade forex successfully, it has to be run as a business. That means you need some kind of advantage over all the millions of other traders around the world trading forex. Not everyone can become rich - that's the truth, so the stock market and forex all behave in such a way that the majority will always lose, and a minority will win.

Trade With The Big Dogs

We all see the huge moves that news generates. It's the big players who move these markets - how is it that they are always in first? They have an advantage - knowledge of fundamental news and its effects - and this gives that to you as well.

Think about it - how many traders study and actually understand the news and how it will affect the market? Not many! Sure, many traders will look at an economic calendar, but most traders are studying the latest technical analysis indicator. Generally most traders don't understand the news and how different releases will impact the market. In this business you need to have an edge over other traders. Am I right? Many of the great traders have said a similar thing haven't they?

Henry Liu really gets into the fundamental news and how to understand it. He shows you this in the book in a really simple and easy way. This is backed up well by the daily emails that are sent out. One of the best points about this course and the daily emails is that you also learn about about how to make pre news trades. You find out about advanced fundamental analysis - which in my opinion is the missing link for forex trading. Can you trade the news for profit? Yes!

How to Break the Sad News to Children

Children are considered to be most crucial part of your family. As a parent, you never want to hurt your children in any way. You try to provide all the comforts to your children and also try to protect them from all those things that affect them badly. But there are times when you are forced to break a bad news to your children as you are provided with no other alternative.

Supposing, you have to break the news to your children about the death of any of their grandparents, you do not know the way in which to do it. Often, you find that the children are very close to his grandparents and their death could cause them a lot of pain and misery. Try to break any sad news to your children in as gentle manner as possible as the child is very sensitive. Break the news gently without creating too much of drama. Moreover, you should try your best not to break down in front of your children to mourn the death of any of your parents. The child gets affected by all this and it may have negative effect. You should never hide the death of the grandparents from your children as later on when you try to explain the whole thing to him the child will not be ready to accept it.

Suppose, you are suffering from any financial crunch and you have to explain your situation to your child. Do not break the news all of a sudden. Try to prepare a background to narrate your condition. For example take an example of any of your neighbor whose financial status is less secure. Make your child understand that at some point or another everyone has to live in that way. You should never be rude to your child while trying to break any bad news to him. It affects your child and he might go into depression as well.

Thus, since children are very delicate, you must be very careful while breaking any sad news to your children. You should give ample amount of time to your children in order to help them regain their composure after breaking the sad news. You should always try to be happy in front of your children even during the difficult moments. Never make them feel that the world has come to an end after the mishap. Always inculcate a ray of hope in him and support him in to come out of the situation.

Great News For Forex Traders!

If you have lost money forex trading I have great news! No, really!

If you are looking to easily increase your monthly income but are not sure how, have been curious about trading the FOREX market, or have a bit of experience in trading but would like a big boost in confidence... and profitable trades... then you will absolutely love what you are about to read...

Since 2007 I have been keenly interested in forex Trading, more so as it is not taxable in the UK - Yippee! (Check the law for where you are!) I knew however, early on I would not learn anything dummy (demo) trading as it did not give you the same feel as a real forex trade. So, I entered my first forex trade and lost a little - it was okay as I also learnt never trade more than you can afford to lose.

However, I lost a lot of money buying into one of the numerous bogus forex courses that purports to teach you a thing or two and help you put a steady income in your pocket - it turned out to be lies or it was too technical or both!

Since then I vowed to get back my money and more and have been quietly researching forex markets looking for a viable one that takes care of all the technical stuff. Initially it seemed impossible that I would ever find such a way to trade forex or if I did that it wouldn't cost the earth, I'm glad to finally say I have both. The truth is you will not find it with a Google search as only a select few know about this simple forex resource that guides you all the way to a steady income.

Alternatively, you can try and Google it and see where that takes you. You'll find a range of forex courses and packages out there and you can try and fail for yourself or you can make life easy trading the forex market by following the link I have for you. After years of researching different forex opportunities, I have found one which is by far easier to understand and potentially very profitable as well.

I personally, would have loved to be in your position in 2007 reading this article instead of spending valuable time and money I couldn't afford trading the forex market with little and no experience.

It's not about so called experts speaking in jargon that makes trading the forex market difficult and unprofitable as it would cost you a whole lot of money to begin to see a fraction of the profitable trades you could be experiencing here.

I'd like to know how you get on, come back and tell me about your forex trading success story.

Consumer Reports Mattress Ratings - The Good News and Bad News

If you are looking for mattress ratings from a credible source, such as Consumer Reports, there's good news and bad news.

The Bad News

Consumer Reports does not rate mattresses. There are a couple of reasons for this, they say. First, their testers disagree on which mattresses are most comfortable. As a result, Consumer Reports says that mattress choice is largely a matter of personal preference.

Second, Consumer Reports says that model names from the top mattress brands differ from store to store. As a result, they say it is impossible to compare models. In addition, they say that even for mattresses that are similar, there are differences in important characteristics that can affect comfort, such as quilting, padding, springs, etc.

Consumer Reports, however, does offer some sound general advice on mattress shopping, such as the importance of lying on different beds to see which one you personally prefer. But in regard to which mattress is best, they will not be of much, if any, help.

The Good News

Is it futile, then, to search for which mattresses may be best? Probably not -- if you know where to look. A terrific source of mattress information can be found on hundreds, if not thousands, of online message boards that are scattered across the web.

People often use these message boards to ask others which mattresses they think are best. People then reply, often giving advice based on their own mattress ownership experience. The responses tend to be very informative, credible and free of "guerilla marketers" -- people within the mattress industry who provide bogus online mattress reviews to sway consumer opinion one way or the other.

By the way, you don't necessarily have to post a mattress question yourself on a message board. You can simply search the web for existing message board threads about mattresses or a particular mattress type or brand you are interested in.

And while you may not find out which mattresses are best on a model level, you will get a good sense of which is best on a brand level, and that can be very valuable information.

With Sirius Portable Satellite Radio You Can Have Your Music, News, Or Talk Radio Anywhere!

Do you remember the days when it was almost impossible to be able to listen to a good mix of the music or other radio programming that you wanted anywhere and anytime? I do, and believe me if you value your news and talk radio the way that I do it is a time that you do not want to return to. In those days I spent more time flipping channels and between AM and FM to try and be able to access the content that I desired than I did listening. Since Sirius portable satellite radio entered the mix a few years ago this is no longer a problem.

I absolutely love being able to have instant access to news, music, or talk radio at any time. I personally use the Sirius Stiletto 2 which provides me with more features than I could ever use. This thing brings me all of the programming crystal clear no matter where I am. This Sirius portable satellite radio makes the trip from my house to my car to my job everyday.

The whole family enjoys the satellite radio when it is at home. My wife enjoys listening to Martha Stewart Radio, my kids love the Disney programming, and on the rare occasion that I get my hands on my Sirius portable satellite radio at home I get the news and talk radio that just is not available on the FM or AM dial.

This thing is also priceless on the commute. I spend at least 2 hours per day in my car on the way to and from work driving through mostly rural areas. If it were not for this Sirius radio I would have to change radio frequencies several times to find the programming that I want, if I could find it at all.

My favorite feature on this Sirius portable satellite radio is the built in mp3 player. Like most people I have my favorite talk radio hosts and newscasts that I feel like I have to hear everyday. With the Sirius Stiletto 2 I do not have to be by the radio when they are on. With this Sirius portable satellite radio I can record up to 100 hours of programming! So if I have to be in a meeting or doing honey dos I just set my Stiletto 2 to record my favorite programs so that I can come back and listen to them when it is convenient for me.

This Sirius portable satellite radio can be purchased in a package that includes the home or car installation kit or can be purchase as a stand alone unit. I personally have found it well worth my money to purchase the Stiletto 2 with the available car kit. I also added on the home kit to complete my ability to use this great satellite radio everywhere. There are also many other great accessories available for this receiver.

As you know there is a small monthly service fee to access the Sirius satellite radio network but I have found it well worth my investment. For the price of about one and one half lunches at McDonald's I am able to pick and choose between over one hundred channels that deliver content that you just cannot find on the AM FM radio consistently.

As this is a review I should point out the bad points of a Sirius portable satellite radio, but I honestly have no complaints with my device or service. I could not be more satisfied. If you are passionate about the quality of information or music that you receive on the radio this is the only way to go.

News Blogs Vs The Newspaper

Grapevine has it that the paper boy may soon be out of business with the emergence of news blogs on the internet. Conventionally, most home owners, especially those belonging to the older generation are used to reading the daily newspaper in print in order to stay updated with current global news. However, this trend is experiencing a change where the newer generation now looks to the internet when it comes to staying updated with the latest happenings around the world.

This shifting trend poses a threat to many of the conventional print newspapers. So much so that many of them have initiated the move to go online. Many newspaper companies have experienced a drop in their sales due to this new emerging trend. However, the danger for news agencies is far from over because they are being rivaled by another creation of the web that comes in  the form of news blogs.

These are basically online websites that deliver round the clock updated breaking news from around the world. These news aggregation websites do not only give you the daily news as quoted from other news sources  but they also give you the opportunity to watch original news programs covering your favorite niches. Many of these blogs feature separate sections, writers, videos and original programs on politics, business, sports, entertainment, biz and tech and much more. In essence a news blog is everything that a newspaper could ever wish to be.

There is no denying the fact that news blogs offer the news seeker a much more enhanced experience. At the same time however it has had a significant impact on journalism. This is because readers are given the opportunity to comment and give feedback on anything they read, see or hear on these blogs thus keeping the journalists in check. Unlike conventional media where it is difficult to identify a twisted agenda, with news blogs intentions are always kept in check.

When examined in detailed this phenomenon comes across as a very important and vital development of our century. In an era where the media is being blamed for promoting vested agendas, news blogs deliver impartial breaking news and headlines from around the world in an unbiased, unprejudiced and informative manner.

The newspaper in print can never even dream to match the value that news blogs have to offer. This is why you will find them to be increasing in terms of popularity all over the world whereas the sales and popularity of the conventional printed paper seem to be dwindling fast.

Why News Releases Are Quickly Tossed Into The Trash, According To Your PR Doctor

Did you ever wonder why your news release never resulted in an article or story in the media to which it was sent? Or did you ever wonder if the release was ever read? Do you know why some news releases always get tossed into the wastebasket? Your strategic thinking business coach shares the following several reasons why news releases end up in the trash.

1. The news release was sent to the wrong publication, or the wrong reporter at the right publication.

2. The only newsworthy part of he news release is at the very end of the release.

3. There is a complete void of anything newsworthy in the release.

4. The news release has numerous typos, misspellings and grammatical errors.

5. There is no contact information included in the news release.

6. The release is written as an advertisement and is full of hype and no facts.

7. The subject line in an emailed release is too long, too vague or looks absolutely like an ad.

8. The emailed release has an unsolicited attachment.

9. The release was handwritten, typed with all capital letters or sent in some hard-to-read or uncommon format.

10. Important information was deliberately omitted as a ploy to have a reporter call the writer of the release.

If you would like to learn how to avoid having your news release thrown in the trash, increase the probability the releases will be read and used and how a strategic thinking business coach can facilitate and guide you in that endeavor, please contact Glenn Ebersole through his website at http://www.prdoctor4u.com or by email at jgeprman@aol.com

News At Your Fingertips - Online News Video

In days past, finding out what was going on in the world meant picking up the morning edition of the Globe and Mail, or watching the six o'clock news. For the news savvy today, however, it is no longer necessary to sit through an hour of news to get to the two stories you really wanted to watch. In today's, technologically advancing, society many people are turning to online video to get their daily fix of world events.

Online news not only allows for another way to get the latest happenings, but it allows you to watch what you want, when you want. If your only interested in today stories dealing with the daily markets, you are only a few clicks away on most major news sites. Whatever your preference, the online video allows you choices. The days of sitting through the morning and evening news are quickly going by the wayside.

When it comes to broadband internet and online media, many of the industries that deal with traditional media have had issues and even been unable to cope with the changes. Many copyright infringement suits have arisen from the advent of easily available means to share media online.

When it comes to news it is slightly different. The news world has embraced the concept of online media; finding new ways to earn advertising dollars through their web pages and strategically placed ads in their online videos. Many major news networks now make their entire news series available online. Head over to Fox news and check out the lastest Fox Report, a mainstay of their television news series for years. Or maybe you prefer the television series 60 minutes; take a look at the CBS website. The entire show is split into short, easy to download sections. The advertising on their websites actually tends to be less than that in traditional television format, making for an easier viewing experience.

It is the news industries constant search for new ways to make money that has fueled much innovation in some areas of internet video. Tools like flash video and many other online formats were specifically targeted at high profile clients such as those found in the news world. New designs in content delivery that were originally designed by news sites can be found on high profile sites like YouTube or Dailymotion. Along with innovations in online video technology, some of the larger news sites have lead the development of new types of online advertising. It is hard to deny the impact that the news world has had on the delivery of media online.

It may not be too far in the future that all news is delivered in the format of online video. Live feeds from the latest newsworthy events are already being seen online first a lot of the time.

The next time your sitting through that hour of nightly news, waiting on one story, why not just jump on your pc and find what you are looking for now?

Important News On Home In Foreclosure

Many of us have faced hard times at some point in our lives. When we are going through it, it may feel overwhelming, like a hopeless situation. Once we have made it through, we are thankful to be left standing in one piece. A home in foreclosure can seem like the end of the world to someone going through it. No one wants to lose something they have worked hard to get; especially if it is something they love dearly. They may have put many man hours into the home by remodeling and upgrading it, and they may have lived in it for quite some time. The home may hold many family memories, and now they are going to lose the home to a foreclosure. This article will talk about some important news on a home in foreclosure, and how it may not quite be the end of the world.

Most of us like to be winners. It isn't much fun to lose. A home in foreclosure can make you feel defeated, like there is no hope. I'm here to tell you, not to give up. Don't go down without a fight. There may be some options that could possibly bail you out of this foreclosure. In some cases, there may not be any other option, but for many, just because you get a notice of foreclosure, doesn't mean it's all over. Find out what you can do to save your home. A home in foreclosure can sometimes be refinanced, if the equity is high enough in the home and you could begin making payments again. Who knows, with a refinance, you may even have lower payments. The first thing you need to do is make contact with the people who have begun foreclosure.

One of the first things many people do when they become financially behind is, avoid the constant phone calls. To save a home in foreclosure, it is a must to stay in contact with the original lenders. You need to let them know what is happening in your life, and any changes that may allow you to begin making payments again. Most lenders do not want the home back if at all possible. They will work with you all they can, to help you be able to keep your home in foreclosure. There are many times when you may have lost your job, or been laid off for a period of time, and have gotten behind on your payments. You were then able to get back to work, but just can't catch up the back payments. The lenders can take the back payments on a home in foreclosure and add them to the end of your loan.

Banks can be creative if they so choose. They really don't want a home in foreclosure, as it often costs them money. What ever you do in this situation, don't give up. Check out your options. You may want to consider a bill consolidation program that will lower your other monthly costs, in order to pay your mortgage payment. A home in foreclosure isn't the end of the world, but it could be an eye opener for someone who hasn't been managing their money wisely. You may need to get some counsel on how to manage your money, and consolidate your other bills. This could help you in further ventures to avoid another home in foreclosure.

The Day Today - This Is The News!

The Day Today as with so many other British comedies produced precious few episodes, but the proportionate impact of those six episodes has been immense. Originally aired in early 1994 following the success of their radio prelude On The Hour, The Day Today covered the news, and by extension the news industry, with surreal accuracy. With Chris Morris providing an eerily accurate impression of Jeremy Paxman in a studio that bore a striking resemblance to ITN's News At Ten set of the time, one of the show's great strengths was the casual viewer could flick through and not realise it was parody. If you weren't paying attention, you could easily go a couple of minutes until you heard a headline or report that'd make you stop in your tracks, like "That's it, just time to let you know that police are still looking for the actor Burt Reynolds after he stole a dodgem and drove it out of a fairground in Islington."

Not only was the show's subtlety and dextrous, creeping satire crucial to pulling the whole thing off, it also leant itself well to building a loyal audience firmly in on the joke. And if Chris Morris' bombastic professionalism set the scene, his band of satellite colleagues were the perfect compliment: the inept economics correspondent Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan, who often "loses the news" and thinks the German for 30 percent is "Trenta Percenta"; Collaterlie Sisters, the anamatronic and incomphrensible business news specialist who uses graphics like the Currency Kidney and the International Finance Arse to explain trends in world trading; Sylvester Stuart, the disembodied weather head; Barbara Wintergreen, the pun-happy American correspondent who covers the likes of serial killers being sentenced to death by corpses with the voice of Martin Sheen; and Valerie Sinatra, the outrageously flirted at transport reporter from her travel pod a mile above Great Britain.

But of course, the best known Day Today foil is Alan Partridge, whose palpable lack of sporting knowledge ended up being no impediment to a sparkling career as a chat show host and early morning East Anglian DJ. In fact, it was some of Alan's best bits of sports reporting that exemplify just how extraordinarily far-sighted the show could be. As the programme basically boils down to a collection of micro sketches pulled together by idents with slogans like "Facts multiplied by importance equals news", it's an extremely easy show to look up on the likes of YouTube, even though it pre-dates the site by nigh on a decade, and Alan Partridge's football commentary ("SHIT! DID YOU SEE THAT?! He must have a foot like a traction engine!") is one of the all-time YouTube classics.  Similarly, they featured a mockumentary called The Office ages before Messrs Gervais and Merchant dreamed theirs up. They even managed to pre-empt the proliferation of reality shows and histrionic soap operas with their miniseries The Pool and The Bureau.

But if surreal innovation got people watching, it was the tendency to push the boundaries that got people talking, the best example of which was the story of IRA "bomb dogs" going off around the UK. The report showed cordoned off streets, people panicking as "terrierists" ran aimlessly round the streets, and amusingly earnest graphics showing a dog coated with a special resin being blown 1,000ft into the air. It also showed Sinn Féin's "deputy leader" interviewed while taking helium, to take credibility away from his statements. While still funny now, given the tense political state of play in 1994 (the IRA habitually bombed city centre targets, including BBC's Television Centre, during this period, and interviews with Sinn Fein members could only be showed in silhouette with the voice of actual actors like Stephen Rea and Butch Dingle from Emmerdale dubbed over it) it was darkly humorous at least, and downright ballsy at best.

And then there's the actors and contributors themselves. Had they been American, they surely would have been dubbed as a Pack of some kind, but despite the lack of officialdom the main players in The Day Today continue to dominate British comedy. The success of Steve Coogan is self-evident, and Chris Morris went on to achieve legendary status with Brass Eye and directed and co-wrote the recent film Four Lions. Patrick Marber wrote the movie Closer, which is one of the more mindblowing facts I've heard this year. Doon Mackichan was one third of Smack The Pony, Rebecca Front as Nicola Murray is the recipient of most of Malcolm Tucker's ire on The Thick Of It, while producer Armando Ianucci has had a hand of some sort in every funny thing the BBC has made since. Executive Producer Peter Fincham is now the head of ITV, but we'll forgive him that.

Ultimately though, for all the show's influence, it leaves a legacy of prescience as much as parody. What was in 1994 an incremental clinic in absurdity looks more like a journalists' handbook in 2010. Which, unlike The Day Today, isn't particularly funny.

News Channels Are More Fluff Than News

These days you can turn to just about any of the major news channels and get information about late breaking stories, but there is also a decidedly entertainment aspect to these news channels that is disturbing. Some of them, like "Headline News" don't even attempt to be a solid news provider anymore. They are pure tabloid and usually they only provide gossip about the latest missing child or murdered wife or whatever the latest juicy tidbit is. Others like "Fox News" are just fronts for political stances, in this case the Republican party which seems to control all of Fox's news programming in a very blatant and disturbing way. They even go out of their way to pronounce themselves "Fair and Balanced" but the opposite is true and it is transparent to all but the most partisan of viewers. Michael Moore claimed that Fox News helped to push the 2000 election in favor of the Republican candidate George W. Bush, but it seems far-fetched that any of the news channels could affect something as important as a national election. It is a fact, however that they called the election early in favor of Bush without any real proof that he had in fact won. Whatever the real story was we may never know.

We all know that the tabloid news shows like "Entertainment Tonight" and "Extra" are all fluff and more concerned about following celebrities around town like paparazzi than covering any real news, but when Fox News and CNN, supposedly real news channels start reporting the same trivial material, it becomes a matter for concern. Many people have stopped watching these news channels altogether and instead favor the hard hitting and incisive PBS News Hour. This is one of the few remaining news channels that take their time reporting a story and they go in-depth to cover all the different angles. They are interested in finding out the facts and this cannot be done with twenty second sound bites. This type of journalism requires investigative reporting done by real professionals.

To be fair, CNN does have some semblance of reporting left with Anderson Cooper, one of the few reporters left that actually hangs on to a story. It was in evidence just recently with the massive earthquake that hit Port Au Prince, Haiti. Long after the regular media had disappeared he was still there covering the story and the aftermath of the great quake, which left thousands dead and many more injured and homeless. The struggle to rebuild continues in Haiti and you can still switch the channel to CNN and see Anderson Cooper there with Sean Penn, who is much to be admired for his humanitarian efforts, despite what you may personally think of his liberal politics.

Fox News would never have given that type of coverage to Haiti and especially not Sean Penn whom the regular talking heads on Fox like Sean Hanitty and others detest. This is another example of allowing political views to cloud investigative journalism and one of the reasons that these news channels are evading the real news.

News Media Analysis Of Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally

I was very interested in finding out how the mainstream news media would portray Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally the day after the historic 08-28-10 event. Not surprisingly, the mainstream news media reporters and analysts', in fact, all their talking heads, were struggling with reporting and analyzing this historic event. They simply didn't get it. Yet, the numbers were so huge they couldn't ignore it, although that is precisely what they wanted to do.

Recall the news media coverage of the most honorable Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s (MLK) "I Have a Dream" speech delivered at the same Lincoln Memorial location on August 28, 1963. At the time it was the largest gathering of people at that location in US history. Every minute of that rally received national news coverage and the news coverage went on for days.

The "Million Man March in Washington DC on October 16, 1995 which, in real numbers, didn't approach half the size of the advertised "million person" rally," still was a huge event. Like MLK's speech, it received considerable mainstream media coverage during and in the days following the event. By their sheer size, not to mention their wholesome message, those two historic rally's deserved no less then maximum news media coverage, and they received it.

When opponents of Glenn Beck angrily say that you can't compare Beck's rally to these other two events, they are correct. Glenn Beck's rally was bigger than them - and that's simply the truth. Some will argue that it was not historically as valid, but that's only because the mainstream media won't allow it to be. I'm not for a second suggesting that the "Restoring Honor" rally was in anyway better than the other two rallies. They both earned and deserve their place in history, no doubt about it. However, I contend, as do millions of other Americans that Glenn Beck's "Restoring Hope" rally was, as a minimum, at least as important as either of these other two rallies. Moreover, the mainstream media gave it no news coverage in the days and weeks prior to the event.

What is immediately noteworthy is that Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally was even larger than the two aforementioned rallies. The "Restoring Honor" rally is now the largest rally in American history. The size and magnitude of it simply cannot be diminished. It is genuinely historic for that reason alone. What baffles the mainstream media is how and why it could be so historically huge, yet they can't begin to understand it. Watching the liberal media talking heads attempt to explain this event was actually humorous. The nation got to see how confused and out of touch with the American people they really are.

The enormous and historic size of attendees' at Beck's rally, the largest in US history, happened without any of the daily discussion and national news coverage that went on for many weeks prior to MLK's rally and the "Million Man March" by the mainstream news media. That alone is something the mainstream media can't begin to explain, but Glenn Beck can. In fact, Glenn Beck did when he pointed to the heavens and rightly gave credit where it belonged.
The mainstream media couldn't even explain it away with a discussion about the message of the event. How could they? After all, they uniformly failed to get the message. The message of Glenn Beck's rally was every bit as wholesome, endearing, and important as either of the two aforementioned historic events. Beck's rally had a two-word title that was very simple and in no way deceiving. It was "RESTORING HONOR." The rally was both spiritual and patriotic. It was not "political."

The mainstay media could not conceive of why the largest crowned in American history would stand together without the utterance of a single political message and without a single political sign or banner. The message was about "Faith, Hope, and Charity" and how these attributes were required to "restore honor" in our nation.
Glenn Beck's rally remembered and praised our founding fathers and our founding documents (i.e., our Constitution). It rightly gave glory and honor to an almighty God whom our founding fathers worshipped and who blessed them and, in turn, our entire nation. The rally introduced and honored three great "civilian" American heroes in our own time. It especially honored the men and women in our armed forces who, throughout history, have secured our freedom.

Following the event all the mainstream media could do was to try to make sense out of what just happened. Why would so many heed the call of a talk show and radio host and mass in such large numbers, they wondered? They just couldn't understand it! Glenn Beck was simply a conduit for God Almighty Himself. He was a tool of God. Glenn Beck wasn't speaking to the masses. Rather, God was speaking through Glenn Beck. They masses came because they were responding to God, not a talk show host. They understood, as I do, that we dare not be jealous of he whom God has chosen to speak through?

The words coming from Glenn Beck's mouth on 08-28-10 were pleasing to and bowed in submission to almighty God. If God chooses to speak through Glenn Beck, just remember that God is omniscient and infallible. He never errors. GOD IS PERFECT.

You can tell whom God speaks through based on what is said and to whom the glory is given. In other words, Glenn Beck's words were God inspired. I don't care if God elects to speak to me through a doorknob; I want to hear what God wants to tell me.

The message for those in the mainstream media who struggled understanding this event is that they also need to get back to God so that they too can hear and understand HIM when HE wants them. God's message is for everyone.

Glenn Beck is NOT God, nor does he claim to be. He is a fallible sinner just like the rest of us. Glenn Beck is simply humbling himself before God and is answering Gods call to do God's will. He doesn't know or understand why he was chosen. He doesn't know what will be said until it is revealed to him.

God gave Glenn Beck a voice and forum from which to speak. He also gave him a massive audience so that they might hear and do what God wants them to hear and do. Could Glenn Beck still fall from God's grace? Absolutely! Of course he could, as could we all. Unfortunately, far to many among us have and that's explains why God felt the need to speak to us and warn us.

Glenn Beck didn't ask for this mission, But God gave it to him anyway. God knows best. He always has and He always will. Should Glenn Beck ever fall from grace or misrepresent our Lord's message, God will deal with him. We will know it by his words. So far, Glenn Beck seems to deserve Gods trust and he is blessed for it. So, respect the fact that God chose Glenn Beck for this mission. God knows exactly what He is doing and why He is doing it. We ought never forget the God also picked the Apostle Paul, probably the most unlikely man of his time to be so chosen.

For those heathens that would suggest that I am comparing Glenn Beck to the Apostle Paul, let me assure you that I do not claim that Glenn Beck is an apostle or anything other than an ordinary human being. I just think that God has chosen him for an extraordinary mission. Truth should be reviled, not dispelled or concealed.
This explains Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally. The rally was about "restoration." Here is a poem that I wrote and which has been published several times. I think adequate explains this phenomenon of restoration:

RESTORATION

It is a mystery

yet it is real,

confused with the desire

to be made new

or to camouflage the old.

It is satisfied

with what began,

with preference for

the original plan.

It only desires

to be made whole,

to restore energy,

hope, and soul.

It is phenomenal

this restoration goal.

The other part of the "Restoring Honor" message had to do with "faith." Glenn Beck understands that faith is a gift from Almighty God Himself. Here is another of my frequently published poems that I think adequately explains the gift of faith:

THE GIFT OF FAITH

People ask, "Do you have faith?"

Well, do you?

How do you know?

Do you even know the meaning of faith?

Can you comprehend "obligation?"

Do you understand "loyalty and fidelity"

to a person, promise, engagement, or a diety?

Can you accept the observance of your obligations,

the fidelity to your promises, oaths, and allegiances?

If so, you are blessed with faith.

If not, you are hopelessly devoid of faith's essence.

The value of faith cannot be measured.

It is more precious then any commodity

and cannot be bought nor sold.

If you lack it, faith is only

accessible through prayer.

No one is worthy of faith

and faith is never based on proof.

Faith is a heavenly gift,

a gift from "The Holy Spirit."

Becuase is neither earned or deserved,

it ought never be taken for granted.

Faith permits acceptance of our "Lord and Savior"

and HIS "Holy Sacrifice"

that alone can save our souls.

Faith is your connection to the divine.

If you lack faith, pray for it.

If you have faith, cherish it.

The final part of the "Restoring Honor" rally, which is to be achieved through "Faith, Hope, and Charity," involves "leadership." I noticed how Glenn Beck was looking for and appealing to others to seek out leaders amongst them. He wondered who would be the next George Washington. For the benefit of the so incredibly misguided and confused mainstream media, this final poem that I wrote will, hopefully, introduce you to the kind of leadership that is pleasing to God and for which I believe He spoke through Glenn Beck and others at the "Restoring Honor Rally:"

LEADERS

Trailblazers and bellwethers

who conduct with dignity

are these noble maestros

who shepard people.

Honorable and selfless

luminaries are these bold

inspirers of confidence.

Captains of courage

who lead by example.

Directors who orchestrate,

motivate, excite and

spark others to follow.

Emanate role models

of noteworthy distinction.

These are leaders,

champions of the best

who are as rare

as they are great.

The fact that the mainstream media failed to understand any of the aforementioned explains volumes about them and how misguided they are. This is why America rejects them and they should begin by understanding that truth. The only thing they need more than integrity is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The "Restoring Honor" rally was not a political event. Over half a million people attended this event with not a single sign or banner in hand. Not one single incidence of violence was reported. The mainstream news media couldn't down play the numbers without exposing their own usually woeful lack of integrity in the process. They couldn't subvert the message because far too many people witnessed it in person, on television (CSAPN), and on the Internet (FACEBOOK) that insured they couldn't get away with it. They dared not speak against our military veterans. They dared not speak against honor. They dared not speak against Faith, Hope, and Charity. They dared not speak against God. There was no political message or violent act for them to point to. So, the mainstream media did what it always do, they attacked the messenger. They attacked Glenn Beck and the other speakers at the rally.

Woe to them, because almighty God was speaking through those messengers.
